What we do · Business and functional analysis

Business and functional analysts for insurers and banks.

A Teasetab analyst translates what the business needs into what IT can build. And makes sure that is what gets delivered: from process analysis to business acceptance.

What the role delivers

At an insurer or bank the complexity sits in the details: policy rules, product variants, exceptions in customer service, links to legacy systems. A good analyst brings those details to the surface before they hurt in production.

In practice: requirements the business recognises and IT can build, user stories with acceptance criteria and test scenarios that cover the real processes. And a business that accepts the result because it helped design it.

Teasetab analysts know the sector: policy systems, broker processes, self-service, migrations. They speak the language of the business and that of the developers.

Typical assignments

  • Process analysis and requirements for a new or changed policy process
  • Functional analysis of self-service for customers and brokers
  • User stories and acceptance criteria for an agile development team
  • Data mapping and functional rules in a legacy migration
  • Test coordination and business acceptance
  • Analysis of the impact of regulation on processes and systems
  • Functional support after go-live: assessing and prioritising change requests

How Teasetab fills this role

Teasetab fills this role with a senior analyst with at least five years in banking or insurance projects. On a smaller project one consultant combines project management with functional analysis; that is agreed in the scope up front.

Every analyst we propose is known personally to Teasetab and has already worked at an insurer or bank. You see the name in the proposal and talk to the analyst before the start. We run the intake and the selection ourselves and you keep one point of contact. Replacement only with your agreement.

What to expect in the first weeks

No long onboarding. The analyst starts with a fixed set of actions.

  1. Process and stakeholders

Conversations with business, IT and operations. The current way of working and the pain points are put in writing.

  2. Scope and priorities

A first delineation: what is in the analysis, what is not, what comes first. Aligned with the project manager and the sponsor.

  3. First deliverable

The first requirements or user stories, reviewed by the business and clear to the development team.

  4. Rhythm

Fixed sessions with business and developers. Open questions surface quickly, not only in the test phase.

Mini-case: self-service for life insurance

At a Belgian life insurer a Teasetab consultant worked as project manager and functional analyst on self-service for life insurance. Customers and brokers consult and change their policies online, integrated with the existing policy system.

The analysis translated policy rules and broker processes into functional specifications for the development team. Result: delivered in successive releases. References are available in a conversation.

Frequently asked questions

How does the day rate work?

Teasetab works with a day rate agreed up front, depending on role and seniority. You pay for days worked, with transparent timesheets. Directly or through your broker.

How long does an assignment last?

The duration follows from the scope of the analysis and the rhythm of the development team. A defined scope is put in writing up front, followed by regular evaluation. Stopping or extending is decided on results.

On site or hybrid?

Both. Analysis needs many conversations with the business, so presence at your office is useful, certainly at the start. You agree the balance with Teasetab up front.

What if the analyst drops out or is not a fit?

Replacement happens only with your agreement. Teasetab then finds a consultant from the network with the same profile and takes care of the handover. If it is not a fit, we say so honestly.
